Karakul is a great, terrifically strong fiber, perfect for hardwearing items! 4-7" staple length - sold by the Ounce.
Solar dyed in pickle jars! Can be used in spinning, weaving, knitting, crochet, or felting just as is, or can be carded for further use.
Karakul is on the Shave Em to Save Em list, and a 4oz purchase is eligible for a sticker.
Pictured with a lock of the same fleece, undyed.
Karakul is considered a coarse fiber by most, and is what I would call a 'self-felting' fiber meaning that if left long enough on its own, it will naturally felt together. That being said, I think this is actually a fairly soft fleece. Please note that some of the fibers are a bit stuck together, but they come apart easily enough with a little tugging.
And the standard "color" disclaimer...: I do my best to take and post accurate pictures but please keep in mind that colors vary slightly from monitor to monitor and it may look a little different in person. If you are uncertain about the color, please send me a message requesting more photos.
Lady-led and running. We back the gals (lots of our good shepherds are actually shepherdesses), and are proud to take our place in the sisterhood of fiber that stretches back to the ancient world.
