Cheviot & Crossbreed Wool Roving - Double-Dipped Colors
Cheviot & Crossbreed Wool Roving - Double-Dipped Colors
Low stock: 3 left
These braids are a mix of two breeds that seem play nicely together. Cheviot wool is a lovely medium grade wool that has lots of crimp and bounce, and makes nice squishy yarn. This crossbreed wool has similar qualities, and if it weren't for it's natural dark color, I would think that it was also Cheviot. Both fibers felt well if that is your desire.
Cheviot & Crossbreed Wool Roving - 4 oz braid
This wool was sourced from a mill in Massachusetts. This mill processed roving is quite thick and fluffy. When spinning or weaving on my peg loom (for which this fiber is GREAT), I would split the roving in half.
These braids were solar dyed in pickle jars, and no two are alike. Each braid consists of 2 oz of white Cheviot and 2 oz of grey/brown crossbreed wool overdyed (for 4 oz total) in the same jar to create a complimentary pairing. Some colorways have multiple braids, but they are anything but identical. I have included multiple photos of each, both in braid form and undone loose in an endeavor to show as much of the color variation as possible - but more photos can be taken upon request. For most of the colorways, there is far more color on the dark fiber than the photos show - it was hard to capture. Again, more photos can be taken upon request.
Please note that while this fiber is mill processed, it does still contain stray bit of vegetable matter that are easily removed.
And the standard "color" disclaimer...: I do my best to take and post accurate pictures but please keep in mind that colors vary slightly from monitor to monitor and it may look a little different in person. If you are uncertain about the color, please send me a message requesting more photos.

Lady Led
Lady-led and running. We back the gals (lots of our good shepherds are actually shepherdesses), and are proud to take our place in the sisterhood of fiber that stretches back to the ancient world.
